1. You must be within our adoption area
Our adoption range is Southern NY, Northern NJ and Southern CT only.
2. You must be 21+ years old to apply
The head of household must be the person that fills out the adoption application. Please do not fill out the adoption application for someone else as
you never duplicate their responses exactly.
3. All dogs listed under Current Adoptable Dogs are available
We update our site daily and our listings are all current. If a dog is listed, it means that they are available. We will mark the dog as "pending"
if we have found the dog a home and are just awaiting the official adoption to take place.
4. Adoption Fees
The adoption fee is a tax-deductible donation on your part and helps us to cover our costs and continue our work. For an adult dog,
the adoption fee is $150 - $250. For puppies and purebreeds, the adoption fee is $200 - $300. Included in dog adoptions: age appropriate vaccinations,
altering and heartworm testing (if old enough), deworming, leash and collar with Pet Rescue name tag. If a puppy is not of age, you will be required
to have him/her altered by 6 months and New York State requires us to take an additional refundable $50 spay/neuter deposit. After receiving written
vet confirmation from you, we will happily refund the $50 desposit.
5. Fill out an adoption application
If you wish to adopt a dog, you must fill out an adoption application.

Pet Rescue makes every attempt to match each particular dog to the best type of home and we can only determine that by learning more about you and your
family. Please be honest with your answers as we only have the best interest in mind for each dog. Do not take it personally if we determine that
the dog you are interested in would not be the best match. We may suggest a "better fit" dog. Our goal is to make each adoption last forever.
Since we do not have a shelter, many of our dogs are in foster homes and we know our dogs very well. Others are boarded at a local facility. We show our
dogs by appointment or at our adoption days only.
6. We will confirm receipt of your application
You will receive an email confirmation within 24 hours after submitting an application. We do our best to be fair and process the applications in the
order received. If the application is incomplete, we cannot process it. If we are unable to contact you or your references, the approval process will
be delayed. If the dog you are interested in is already adopted, we will keep your application on file for 6 months. If you are interested in another
dog in the future, just send us an email specifying the dog with your full name and we will reinstate your application.
